Work to improve the park is an ongoing process. There is no shortage of work being undertook throughout the year on a volunteer basis. The Master Plan provides guidance and opportunities for grant money to enhance the volunteer work already completed. Despite the opportunity for grant funds contributing to the park by donating is a great way to help out.
Volunteers have rehabbed the old ski rental building into a functional day lodge open selected weekends and holidays to the public. They have built a cross country skiing/hiking trail. This is a photo of the park entrance being erected. There are plenty of volunteer projects to help out with.
Huerfano County has worked with the SE Consulting group to create a master plan to guide park development and to pursue grant money for future projects. The full plan can be found by Clicking Here.
The park was purchased for the county thanks to many individual donations. Now that the county owns it funds are needed to help develop the park's available activities. Donations can be made here or by sending a check to the Mountain Park Account, Cuchara Foundation, 137 Cuchara Avenue East Cuchara, Colorado 81055.
